American Airlines, the largest carrier at Miami International Airport, announced it will expand its direct service to Europe next summer with daily flights to two popular cities.

American will also extend its daily service to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport through August 2025. It was originally slated to end in March. American will operate 240-seat Boeing 787-8 aircraft to complete the Paris flights.
Tickets to both locations were made available for purchase today.
Juan Carlos Liscano, VP of MIA operations for American Airlines, said the company added Rome flights and expanded its Paris schedule to satisfy customer demand.
“They want more opportunities to enjoy the rich culture and cuisine of Europe,” he said. “On the heels of our biggest summer in MIA history, we continue to strengthen our 35-year commitment to Miami with an unparalleled network to some of the most renowned business and leisure destinations worldwide.”
American’s current flight network from MIA includes more than 155 destinations. The airline established its Miami base in 1989 with flights to six cities.

In late July, the airline reported a record-breaking second quarter, with $14.3 billion in revenue. American reported a net income of $717 million. When adjusted for special items, the company’s net income rose to $774 million.
American's operational cash flow reached about $1.1 billion, with free cash flow standing at about $850 million. The airline reduced its total debt by about $680 million during the quarter, and said it remains on track toward its goal to reduce total debt from peak levels by $15 billion by the end of 2025.
During the airline’s second quarter earnings call, American Airlines Group (Nasdaq: AAL) President and CEO Robert Isom acknowledged the company’s Miami hub performed “fairly well."
“We're making sure that we're flying where we can produce the greatest level of profitability, and one of the things that I'll just underscore again is that business traffic is something that travels throughout the country, throughout the world,” he said. “We're pleased with our network to serve. I think almost 90% of the places that you might want to go in the world. We've got a network that is going to appeal. And right now, we've got to go back and win back our business here.”
American Airlines Group shares traded at $11.16 midday Monday, up 3.3% from market open.
